Local businesses see impacts of virus

SHERIDAN — Business owners in Sheridan continue to monitor and see effects of COVID-19 closures, most recently that of school districts 1-3 closing until at least April 3.

Sheridan County Health Officer Dr. Ian Hunter with Sheridan Memorial Hospital strongly urges parents to keep children home and not gather with friends, according to the release from Sheridan County 10 a.m. Monday. Those gatherings include playdates, sleepovers and other activities where children and adults could potentially congregate.

Several businesses in the community rely solely on community congregation and serve as a hub for children and families to recreate together.

The YMCA and Tongue River Valley Community Centers have shut down along with school districts and other agencies. Other businesses, though, continue on to serve the community in more ways than one, but the struggle is being felt by many.
