SCSD2 to finish out year online

SHERIDAN — Sheridan County School District 2 will continue online schooling for the rest of the semester, ending on its original calendar date of May 29. A motion by SCSD2 Board of Trustees passed Monday, 6-3.

Trustees discussed several options during the meeting, including starting summer break mid-May and returning to school two weeks earlier than scheduled next fall. Under that plan, when school resumes in the fall, elementary students would return to the same teachers as they currently have for the first two weeks of school to relearn information that was missed due to COVID-19 pandemic.

Trustees expressed concern over students dropping below standards because of the virtual learning. Members of the board said everyone was doing their best in the situation placed before them.
